About LAURA DALEY
Daley Design Studio officially began in late 1997 when I was asked to design a small “back house / garage” in the town of Telluride. I had already worked on two projects for this particular client as an employee of Marla F. Croke, Architect (now Marla Fritzlen Architecture) but Marla was too busy to take it on. I was also pregnant with my second child and the timing seemed right for a more significant career shift. That project was turning point for me; one thing led to another and the projects kept coming in.
My roots are in Interior Design and my degree in that field brought me to Telluride for the first time in 1984 to work for an interior designer, Marilyn Siegel. But after just two years, the pull of the architecture world took hold and I was able to “apprentice” with architects and designers in Wisconsin and California, learning the ins and outs of building assembly, space planning and kitchen design, before eventually returning to Telluride to work for two different architects. A permanent resident of the Telluride area since 1992, I am deeply attached to this amazing community and have had the honor of designing a rich array of living spaces for many local families.
I am committed to designing homes that welcome, nurture and sustain while being easy to live in, practical and site sensitive. I specialize in small functional spaces, sustainable methods and materials, tiny houses and accessory dwelling units.
